Testing and observation methods for mobile usage

This paper presents a method for observing and analyzing usage of mobile devices using a head mounted video camera and voice recorder. They review a number of other methods including:
- usability testing
- heuristic evaluation
- interviews and questionnaires
- device based data recording
- fixed location video
and reference the problems that these methods have for mobile usage analysis. They indicate that their method may compliment an ethnomethodological approach. Since this paper is a few years old I would imagine the video fidelity problems they discuss have been solved by better video technologies.
